Planning a Vacation

Okay, we've been planning this vacation for over twelve years now - kind of. We knew we wanted to go to Great Britain. We have thought about going there for the entire time we've known each other. We've purchased travel guides and magazines to learn more about the area. But- we didn't buy a map.

We've decided that we are going to London, and how about seeing the Tower of London, Big Ben, the locations mentioned in the books we've read, including Jane Austen books. Would we have a clue how to get there though? No.

Is it feasible to travel from London to Bath to the Lake and Peak Districts, see Stonehenge, and the white cliffs of Dover in a two week time period? Can we make it up to Scotland? Can we take the chunnel train to Paris for a day trip? And where exactly do the relatives live anyway?

Oh the husband has been to London before and thinks he can find his way around. He hasn't been there touristing for the twelve years I've known him. I'll give him the point that London streets aren't likely to have changed in that timeframe (and the building are low so you can see the taller touristy buildings, but surely his memory isn't that good... and surely his navigation skills aren't that much better in London as they are here in the U.S. - or were on our vacations to Brussels and Sydney. Of course, I may be in for a surprise.
