The Revver Widow
You may have heard of the football widow - the wife who is "forgotten" during football season. They may try to involve the wife, but it just isn't her thing. Well, with the advent of the internet, and after America's Funniest Home Videos and Bob Saget have left the air, comes the wonder of www.revver.com.
Now anyone with a .mov file can broadcast their home movies to the world - and make money on it to boot. AFHV only gave money to the funniest videos, but, at revver, even the lamest piece of videography can make a penny. The Mentos/Diet Coke videos are a favorite among the population and has made $21,000+ for the creators!
My husband has been posting tidbits of our movies and watching others for the last several days, without an end in sight. Why anyone would want to watch him feeding our dogs is WAY beyond my comprehension. Fortunately, his computer is in the family room, so we haven't lost him completely to this seemingly unending supply of voyeurism. But, why be involved in our present lives when he could share our past experiences with others and watch some other family jump on a trampoline, or another person's attempt at being a filmographer and creating a movie about greedy kids at Halloween.
We are up to $3.60! That means, if they actually gave us the money before the $50 minimum, that we could buy lunch for the family at the dollar menu at Wendy's! woo woo! That is, if we could pull him from his seat at the computer desk. Until then, we'll go make new memories and share it with him so he can live vicariously through us... just let me know when we've earned enough to send our 6-year old daughter through med school!

Well, I am paying SOME attention to my family. We all hung out at the park yesterday afternoon after I got home from work. And arguably, I'm almost ALWAYS at my computer regardless of Revver or not. But like my wife indicates, thank GOODNESS it is in a common room.
While Revver will take .mov files, they also accept MPEG, WMV, ASF and AVI (including DIVX) and convert the file for you. I believe that they are getting close to accepting flash as well.
